The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota on Wednesday received $5,870 in donations from the 2nd annual Ryan Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament to support its world-class cancer research in Austin.

Roger and Shirley Gordon, whose son Ryan passed away in 2011 from stomach cancer at age 42, presented the donations to The Hormel Institute’s Executive Director Dr. Zigang Dong. As with any donation to The Hormel Institute, 100 percent of the funds will go directly into cancer research.

This year’s tournament and silent auction once again were hosted at the Cedar River Golf Course in Adams.

In two years, the Ryan Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament has raised $8,320 overall in support for The Hormel Institute’s cutting-edge research focused on discoveries leading to cancer prevention and control.
