Biography

Ann M. Bode is former Associate Director/Interim Executive Director of The Hormel Institute and  leader of Cancer Biomarkers and Drug Resistance research section at The Hormel Institute. Dr. Bode received her B.S. and M.S. from Southern Illinois University and her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. She did her post-doctoral work in the Department of Biochemistry in the School of Medicine at the University of North Dakota. She was a full-time tenured faculty member in the Department of Physiology in the School of Medicine where she was Director of Graduate Studies, Head of Cardiovascular Physiology for First Year Medical Students, and ran a research program specializing in the role of reactive oxygen species and antioxidants in chronic diseases, including cancer and diabetes.  Prior to receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Bode spent many years as a college women’s athletic director and volleyball coach.
