Genetics and Regulation of Metabolism

We aim to understand biological processes regulating metabolism in human health and disease. We leverage genomic studies to identify candidate genes that may contribute to metabolic regulation. Next, we conduct experiments in cell culture models and mice to validate gene function and decipher their molecular role in metabolism. We are currently focused on processes that occur in the adipose tissue and the liver and affect whole-body glucose metabolism.
