About Us
The Hormel Institute was started in 1942 by Jay C. Hormel. We are an independent biomedical research department within the University of Minnesota’s Office of the Vice President for Research. Our collaborative research partners span multiple departments within the University of Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic, and other leading research centers.
The Hormel Institute is home to some of the world’s most cutting-edge research technologies and expert scientists. We work with other scientists to accelerate discoveries, leading to improved health. Our research contributes to developing new prevention and treatment therapies for cancer and other chronic diseases.
