What to Expect

Guided Tours: Explore The Hormel Institute with knowledgeable guides and learn about our groundbreaking research initiatives and rich history from over the past 80+ years.

Lab Tours: Dive deeper into the world of cancer research with guided visits to our labs led by esteemed researchers (available for students ages 12 and older, subject to researcher availability).

Career Panels: Discover the diverse range of careers in science through engaging discussions with our staff members (recommended for high school students and older, subject to researcher availability).

Hands-on Activities: Immerse yourself in interactive experiments and activities that bring science to life.

Witness Cutting-Edge Technology: See some of the cutting-edge equipment and technology used in research at The Hormel Institute, such as the powerful cryoEM Microscope.

Safety of Minors Policy: Chaperone Requirements

To be in compliance with The Hormel Institute’s safety of minor policy, all groups must be accompanied by chaperones. The following ratios listed below must be followed during visits:

  • Ages 8 and under: 1 chaperone for every 8 students
  • Ages 9 to 14: 1 chaperone for every 10 students
  • Ages 15 and up: 1 chaperone for every 12 students
